Flawless Feast

Another flawless meal at the Diving Horse in Avalon. LP and I sipped chianti and started with our usual, a half dozen oysters on the half shell-- from the east coast. Briney and delightful. Followed that up with a nice light refreshing salad and roasted bone marrow with a celery slaw and artichoke purée. Fabbbbulous. Creamy, rich, buttery, bone-marrowy goodness. For dinner I had the filet special and LP had the beef tenderloin on the menu. We both ordered our meat medium rare. LPs came with their epic boardwalk fries, and mine came with sautéed brussel sprouts topped with crisp bacon. We BOTH cleared our plates- literally, nothing left. We finished with coffees (they use STUMPTOWN COFFEE, the best!) and the kitchen sent out a scrumptious cheese plate for dessert. A mild, creamy blue cheese with rhubarb jam and a pistachio purée. Ayeyayaya spectacular! As ALWAYS, the service was above and beyond. I'm going to be devastated when they close their doors at the end of the month. I'll be counting down the days til the spring when they reopen...
